Bryan Singer Shares New Look at ‘The Gifted’ X-Men Character Polaris
Now that the mutant cat is out of the bag, Marvel X-Men drama The Gifted is finally sharing its secrets. After yesterday’s official FOX order and first teaser, franchise director Bryan Singer shares a new look at the magnetic Polaris, a key character with ties to X-Men mythology.
She’s no Stan Lee, but Emma Dumont’s Lorna Dane got some additional spotlight from pilot director Bryan Singer’s Instagram account, following a brief appearance in The Gifted teaser trailer. The metal-manipulating character of “Polaris” is noted as one of Magneto’s children in the comics (not necessarily here), and looks to be in a pretty bad, vacuum-sealed way here:
In addition to True Blood alum Stephen Moyer, Amy Acker and Gotham alum Natalie Alyn Lind, also cast in the new series are Coby Bell, Sean Teale as Eclipse, Jamie Chung as Marvel mutant Blink (who Singer had previously showcased in Days of Future Past) and Switched at Birth star Blair Redford as a Native American mutant leader.
The new drama from Burn Notice creator Matt Nix follows “two human parents who discover their children as mutants, forcing them to run from a hostile government, and join with an underground network of mutants to survive.” The series was also said to take place in the universe of the films, potentially including Sentinels as well.
Stay tuned for details of FOX’s X-Men TV series The Gifted in the meantime, including a full trailer next week.
