‘Atlanta’ Wins Best TV Series Musical or Comedy at the 2017 Golden Globes
We were all in need of additional laughs over the course of 2016, even as comedy seemed to turn more poignant (and occasionally darker) than ever. That contradiction is no more apparent than with the 2017 Golden Globes’ choice for Best Television Series, Musical or Comedy, as Atlanta takes home the gold.
An incredulous Donald Glover took the stage with cast and crew to accept the award, thanking the people of Atlanta themselves for "being amazing people." He added that they weren't particularly certain if anyone would like the series, having worked on it for so long.
Atlanta won out over some stiff competition from the likes of ABC’s Black-Ish, Amazon’s Transparent and Mozart in the Jungle, and HBO’s Veep. Last year, the second season of Mozart in the Jungle won, with the first season of Transparent taking home the award in 2015. Someone really likes Amazon!
In any case, you can follow along with the full list of winners below, and stay tuned for more from the 2017 Golden Globe Awards. Did the HFPA make the right call with Atlanta?
