While DC assembles its team for the 'Justice League' movie for a 2015 release, Marvel is busy doing the same. Aside from 'The Avengers 2' and the even more upcoming 'Iron Man 3,' 'Thor 2' and 'Captain America 2' flicks, Marvel Studios is busy trying to fill the cast of their next superhero movie 'Guardians of the Galaxy.'

It was discovered only a few weeks ago that a handful of actors were being considered for the lead role of Peter Quill, but it looks like we might be seeing a familiar face getting the gig as Joseph Gordon-Levitt has been thrown into the casting pool.

Coming off of his performance opposite Christian Bale in 'The Dark Knight Rises,' Joseph Gordon-Levitt has been rumored to take over the role of Batman in future superhero movies like 'Man of Steel' ( talk of which included a surprise cameo) and the 'Justice League' movie. That talk, however, seems to be just that despite the seemingly foreshadowing end scene of the Christopher Nolan-directed summer blockbuster, especially since the Levitt team stated these rumors were false.

Hopefully though -- fingers crossed -- we'll be seeing this rising star in the upcoming Marvel flick 'Guardians of the Galaxy.' Deadline recently reported that Marvel Studios is considering Joseph Gordon-Levitt for the lead role of Quill, the half-human, half-alien leader of the Guardians. [UPDATE: Variety reports that Gordon-Levitt has been offered the role and it's essentially his if he wants it. But they're quick to note that he has been offered quite a few roles and may not have any interest in the film...]

There's been a lot of talk about who exactly was up for the role -- some names included Garrett Hedlund, James Marsden, Sullivan Stapleton, Jim Sturgess and Zachary Levi -- though director James Gunn has stated that these rumors were entirely false. However, we have high hopes for this one as a big name like Levitt's might bring in other high-profile stars into the 'Guardians' fold. Not to mention fans would go absolutely bonkers!

What do you think of this latest casting report? Do you want to see Joseph Gordon-Levitt continue his superhero movie streak with the 'Guardians of the Galaxy'? Who else would you like to see join the team? Give us your theories for the flick in the comments below.
