The success of Homeland Season 4's ostensible reboot has us eager to learn if Showtime can pull it off a second time this fall, and the first full trailer for Carrie’s new private life in Germany doesn’t disappoint. There’s explosions, intrigue ,and all-kinds of black-bagging the latest look at Homeland Season 5, and no one is safe.

There’s plenty to take in by the full Homeland Season 5 trailer, picking up after a few years after Season 4 with Carrie getting roped back into the CIA by a hack in Berlin. The time jump doesn’t appear to have done Quinn any favors, coldly taking down targets at Saul’s behest, but might Carrie end up on that list? What’s with Claire Danes wigging out and donning an Anonymous-style mask? So very many questions.

So reads the official synopsis for Homeland Season 5:

Season five will pick up two years after Carrie Mathison’s ill-fated tenure as Islamabad station chief. Struggling to reconcile her guilt and disillusionment with years of working on the front lines in the ‘war on terror,’ Carrie finds herself in a self-imposed exile in Berlin, estranged from the CIA and working for a private security firm.

In addition to its move abroad, Homeland Season 5 will feature Lord of the Rings alum Miranda Otto as the Berlin Chief of Station, working under Saul, along with Inglourious Basterds star Alexander Fehling as Carrie’s boyfriend and legal counsel for the Düring Foundation, for which Sarah Sokolovic’s American journalist character works.
