‘Infinity War’ Set Photo Suggests a Connection to a Mysterious ‘Age of Ultron’ Scene
Avengers: Infinity War has a lot of ground to cover in terms of bringing together all the threads of the Infinity Gauntlet storyline that have been seeded throughout Marvel’s films since we caught a glimpse of the Gauntlet in the first Thor movie. Every movie since then has in some way been leading up to it, so it makes sense that there would be a few callbacks to previous films that only the sharpest eye could catch.
Today’s wrinkle comes in the form of a pretty large prop from one of those weird vision sequences in Age of Ultron. If you recall, during the dream sequence Thor experiences when Scarlet Witch does some of her weird juju on the Avengers, he sees himself back in Asgard, in the middle of some dimly-lit debauchery. Heimdall is there, blind as a bat, and he tells Thor that he’s going to lead them all to Hel.
The Twitter account @MCU_Tweets spotted a prop statue from that very sequence on the set of Infinity War.
This confluence of set dressings raises a few questions. Is Thor’s vision going to come true? We all know that Hel, or, rather, Hela, will make her debut in Thor: Ragnarok later this year, but will that be the last we see of her? What’s going to happen to Asgard between now and Infinity War?
Then again, the statue could just mean that a scene or two in Infinity War is going to be set in the same room as the one in Thor’s vision, just without all the end-of-the-world stuff. Asgard has statues of old Asgardians all over the place — remember when Thor “decapitated his grandfather” during that chase scene in The Dark World?
