In a recent interview with BALANCEJack Black has announced that Jumanji: The Next Level could be one of the last movie roles of his career. Says Black:

“I’ve been saying for a long time that this is the last movie. We’ll see. I can’t really say what my next thing is because it’s too early; it’s a jinxer. I’ve got a couple of tricks up my sleeve. But not too many. I’m looking to wrap it up pretty soon. Ride off into the sunset.”

This is pretty saddening news. Jack Black — known for his iconic roles in School of Rock, Nacho Libre, and Kung Fu Panda — has built a solid reputation over the course of his career. His performances are broad, boisterous, and still incredibly earnest. It's a shame to think we won't get to see as much of him on the silver screen.

Black has expressed interest in recording another album with his band Tenacious D, as well as spending more time with his wife and kids. “I spend too much time away from home," Black states. "Maybe I’ll do a TV show here in town, so I can work the 9 to 5 and then get back home."

But like Black said himself, nothing is set in stone. He shares that there's one exception to his plan: "If [Quentin] Tarantino comes a-knocking, I’m gonna do that movie!" Quentin Tarantino had better find a place for Black in Kill Bill: Vol. 3, which he recently stated might be in the works in a few years' time.

Catch Jack Black as Professor Sheldon in Jumanji: The Next Level in theaters December 13th — it may be one of the last times to see him in an upcoming movie ever.
