Fans of Netflix’s globe-spanning mindtrip drama Sense8 were put on edge by the fact that the streaming service brought the Wachowski-led series to the recent TCA press tour without news of a Season 2 renewal, but never fear. You, and all seven of your other selves will enjoy a second season of Sense8 in 2016, per the official order.

It remains unknown why Netflix had yet to pin down the renewal by the recent press junket, though the service announced the news with a bit of fun. The Sense8 Twitter account released a video of the cast wishing their characters happy birthdays, and later cutting cake, only to confirm the Season 2 renewal on the plate underneath it:

Sense8 follows eight characters around the world who, in the aftermath of a tragic death, find themselves linked to each other mentally and emotionally. Its cast includes Daryl Hannah, LOST star Naveen Andrews, Brian J. Smith (Stargate: Universe), Tuppence Middleton (Jupiter Ascending), Aml Ameen (The Maze Runner), Freema Agyeman (Doctor Who), Indian actress Tena Desae, South Korean actress Doona Bae, German actor Max Riemelt, Mexican actors Alfonso Herrera and Erendira Ibarra as well as Jamie Clayton, Miguel Silvestre and Terrence Mann.

Reception to the first season proved somewhat mixed, and the elaborate production schedule no doubt necessitated a bit more negotiation and planning, but did Sense8 deserve a second season?
