‘Sons of Anarchy’ Boss Teases First ‘Mayans MC’ Spinoff Footage
Just yesterday we heard Sons of Anarchy creator Kurt Sutter detailing production of FX’s upcoming spinoff pilot Mayans MC, and now we’re getting a first look. See the next MC clubhouse in a new photo of an upcoming scene from the Sons of Anarchy offshoot.
Sutter shared an eleventh-day production photo from the upcoming pilot, featuring an off-camera look at the Mayans MC clubhouse meeting. Worth noting, on the left appears to be Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul alum Raymond Cruz in his role as Che “Padre” Romero, a full patch member expected to recur if Mayans MC goes to series.
Elsewhere of the new series, J.D. Pardo will play EZ Reyes, a prospect in the Mayan MC charter on the California and Mexico border who “struggles with his desire for vengeance against the cartel as well as his need for respect from the women he loves.” Also cast are Clayton Cardenas as EZ’s brother Angel, John Ortiz as club president Esai “Taino” Osorio, and Edward James Olmos as EZ’s father, along with Andrea Londo, Sarah Bolger and Jacqueline Obradors.
So reads the first Mayans MC synopsis:
Mayans MC is set in a post Jax Teller world, where EZ Reyes, a prospect in the Mayan MC charter on the Cali/Mexi border, struggles with his desire for vengeance against the cartel, and his need for respect from the women he loves.
Sutter co-wrote the new project with producing partner Elgin James, and directs the pilot as an executive producer. FX previously described the series as a “dark, visceral family drama that takes a new look at the most American of icons, the 1% outlaw, this time reflected through a Latino lens.” The present day setting could allow for occasional crossover with surviving Sons of Anarchy characters, as well.
We’ll see more from Mayans MC soon, so stay tuned for the latest.
