‘Thor 2′ Set Pics: First Look at the Dark Elves From ‘The Dark World’

It's been a while since we last learned or saw anything new from the God of Thunder's next adventure in 'Thor 2.' We've been hearing all about this "Dark World" he's supposed to go venturing off in after the evil Dark Elves, but aside from a crowded fight scene and some pics of the set, we've had to rely on our imaginations as to how Malekith and his followers look... until now! Get a load of the first Dark Elf pics.

'Thor 2' star Chris Hemsworth was recently spotted in the UK filming a scene from 'The Dark World,' where one intrepid photographer snapped a few shots of him facing off against those Dark Elves. While it's exciting to see all these costumes and sets finally becoming a reality, we want to know if we're looking at Malekith or just one of his many followers?

Malekith (Christopher Eccleston), the leader of the Dark Elves, brings his army to invade the universe -- SPOILER -- attacking Asgard and killing Thor's mother. It's out of this need for revenge that our Mjornir-wielding superhero traverses to The Dark World to face his enemies. Other 'Thor' stars making a return appearance in the sequel are Thor's combat buddies, Natalie Portman, Tom Hiddleston (though Loki reportedly won't be as mischievous as he normally is), Kat Dennings and Stellan Skarsgård, along with newbies Idris Elba, Christopher Eccleston, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje and Zachary Levi.

UPDATE: 11/16, 9:46 A.M. -- Just an FYI, photographer Dan Mumford was also on the set of 'Thor: The Dark World' and snapped a few more shots of the action, confirming that we are indeed looking at Christopher Eccleston in costume as the Dark Elf leader Malekith.
