Tyrese Gibson Takes Vin Diesel’s Side in Dwayne Johnson’s ‘Fast 8′ Drama
Stop what you’re doing; there has been a major development in #CandyAssGate. The Fast 8 beef ignited by Dwayne Johnson earlier this week has gotten more intense now that Tyrese Gibson has thrown himself into the hot fire of candy ass drama. Gibson has taken a side in what appears to be a Johnson vs. Diesel feud.
First, let me give you a quick recap: Johnson posted an impassioned Facebook status calling out his male co-stars as “candy asses.” Then TMZ churned the rumor mill claiming the identity of one of those “candy asses” was Vin Diesel, who’s on-set behavior and producer role reportedly didn’t sit well with Johnson. Then Johnson and Diesel supposedly met to make up, followed by Johnson posting a there’s-no-I-in-team Instagram video on the importance of family, but sans Diesel. Diesel shared a cryptic video saying he’ll explain “everything.” And now Gibson has shared a post taking sides.
Gibson posted a photo of him and Diesel on his Instagram with a long caption that praises Diesel as his friend and brother. There’s no explicit mention of Johnson or the feud, but Gibson’s post sure sounds like he’s taking Diesel’s side, championing the actor for his hard work to “protect this franchise.”
So is Gibson now by default one of the “candy asses” Johnson is upset with? How many more candy asses are there? Is Scott Eastwood one? What does Kurt Russell think about all this drama? Can Jason Statham get in the mix so we can let these guys duke it out in a WWE ring for good? But most importantly, who’s side is Helen Mirren on? No more silence, Dame Mirren, it’s time for you to speak out on #CandyAssGate.
Fast 8 opens April 14, 2017.
