‘Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt’ Will End With Season 4 (And a Movie!)
Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt fans are in for a wild fudging ride. Our first look at Season 4 has arrived, but with it news that the two-part continuation will likely end the series. Until the feature-length movie! We know, it’s a lot.
Netflix released our first look at Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt Season 4, including five new photos and a Mary Tyler Moore parody of Kimmy headed to her new job at Giztoob. The first six episodes of Season 4 will premiere on Wednesday, May 30, while the remaining seven will stream at a later date. Before we get into the bad news, here are the first photos:
Separately, Deadline is reporting that Season 4 will end the series, though creators Tina Fey and Robert Carlock will then begin work on a feature-length movie to wrap the series. The report claims “word is that everyone felt it was time to end the series” after fifty episodes, while noting that Fey has since ventured into Broadway with production of the Mean Girls musical.
The series is rarely listed among Netflix’s most-watched, but has nonetheless racked up sixteen Emmy nominations, including Outstanding Comedy Series for all three years. We’ll hopefully have a full trailer before Season 4 begins on May 25, but was it time for the end?
