Excitement for 'Arrow' season 2 jumped up a notch when producers revealed that The Flash would soon shatter the CW drama's "no powers" rule, introducing the first true superhero into Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell)'s Starling City, since then we've heard a few other possible references to DC heavy-hitters, but the reveal of a recent guest star's true role suggests we might see a huge (but tiny) superhero on the series before long.

According to GreenArrowTV, fan-favorite 'Stargate SG-1' star Teryl Rothery will in fact play DC Comics character Jean Loring, best known to comic fans as love interest to Ray Palmer, alter-ego of shrinking superhero "The Atom." According to a leaked description of the character from 'Arrow' season 2:

Jean Loring is a savvy attorney from the DC COMICS UNIVERSE who would do anything for her clients. Jean makes her way onto “Arrow” as a longtime friend and legal counsel to Moira Queen, who is on trial for her role in the destruction of The Glades, but soon finds herself pulled into the scandalous lives of the entire Queen family.

Interestingly, the series previously made reference to a "Ray and Jean" during "The Undertaking," though in that instance it seemed the characters were referenced to be closer to Oliver and Laurel (Katie Cassidy)'s ages. Teryl Rothery's 3-4 episode stint as Jean Loring doesn't promise that either Ray Palmer or his powers would appear, though we know far more possibilities have opened up since the announcement of a possible 'Flash' spinoff.

In addition to introducing Metamorpho and The Flash, ‘Arrow’ season 2 will pick up on October 9 some time after the events of season 1 finale “Sacrifice,” continuing its ‘Batman Begins’-influenced storytelling with the addition of new villains Isabel Rochev (Summer Glau), Brother Blood (Kevin Alejandro) and Bronze Tiger (Michael Jai White). Guest stars Colton Haynes (Roy Harper), Emily Bett Rickards (Felicity Smoak) and Manu Bennett (Slade Wilson) have all been upgraded to series regulars for the second year in Starling City.
