Star Wars Rebels understandably benched Clone Wars favorite Ahsoka Tano after Season 2, though only one more season remains to pay off those return hints showrunner Dave Filoni drops. Now, Filoni shoots down one popular theory from the Season 4 trailer, potentially pointing to Ahsoka’s full-fledged return.

might not have seen the last of Ahsoka Tano,” while Celebration Orlando’s
“Animated Origins & Unexpected Fates” panel implied Season 4 would reveal whatever manner of Ahsoka’s return, alive or dead. Many fans have theorized that the large wolf in Season 4’s trailer (or the convor bird from her last appearance) might point toward some kind of reincarnation, though Filoni appears to have shot down the idea:

On the one hand, Filoni might be suggesting Ahsoka Tano will return exactly as we knew her, and potentially explain the aftermath of her battle with Darth Vader. Then again, the illustration doesn’t explicitly deny Ahsoka became the “owl,” so feel free to spin your theories anew!

At the very least, Star Wars Rebels Season 4 will feature the Star Wars: Rogue One returns of Forest Whitaker’s Saw Gerrera and Genevieve O’Reilly’s Mon Mothma, with Katee Sackhoff reprising her Clone Wars role of Bo Katan, and Warwick Davis voicing Thrawn’s bodyguard, Rukh. Other reports have even suggested that OG Star Wars alum Ian McDiarmid might reprise his role as Emperor Palpatine.

We’ll hear more of Star Wars Rebels’ fourth and final season in the coming months, so watch the trailer again below, and stay tuned.
