Sarah Paulson Teases ‘American Horror Story: Coven’ Return
We’re a bit further into decoding American Horror Story Season 7 than we were with Roanoke last year, though it seems we may be headed to familiar territory overall. Sarah Paulson teases her supreme Coven role could make a comeback, as producers discuss where the Season 7 idea came from.
Setting aside that the seventh year of FX’s Ryan Murphy drama is said to mirror the 2016 election (or at least the Horror that came with it), producers apparently had a specific plan in mind for some time. Speaking at this weekend’s PaleyFest panel, executive producer Tim Minear revealed that Season 7 came from trying to keep Season 6 under wraps:
At the beginning of every season, in order to secure the tax benefit, you have to give a synopsis of what you’re doing. That was not okay with Ryan, but we had to give them something, so we made up this completely batsh*t thing for those two paragraphs and the funny thing is, we’re doing it this year.
Meanwhile, Sarah Paulson is only one of two confirmed Season 7 stars (the other being Evan Peters), but in addition to her next role, the star teased that we might get to see her Coven character again. Asked which past role she’d want to reprise, Paulson offered:
Cordelia Foxx, because I would like to see her getting her powers as the Supreme. Maybe we’ll get to see that.
Previously, Ryan Murphy teased that a separate upcoming season might bring together Murder House and Coven characters, to say nothing of whatever “secret season” he’d reportedly been writing. For the moment, it remains unclear if Paulson was alluding to either of those possibilities, or that Cordelia could have a place in Season 7.
We’ll likely get firmer details over the summer but what shape should American Horror Story Season 7 take?
