'American Horror Story' season 3 has been much more forthcoming with its subject matter than 'American Horror Story: Asylum, thanks in part to the overall popularity of the series and a return to a more "glamorous" form of evil, but now we finally have a title! 'American Horror Story: Coven' will debut this fall on FX, so find out the scoop on season 3's witches and locations from Ryan Murphy himself inside!

Are you ready for 'American Horror Story' scares from some witchy women? Straight from the 'American Horror Story' panel at PaleyFest, series creator Ryan Murphy has officially revealed that the upcoming third season will be subtitled 'American Horror Story: Coven,' and feature witches as previously suspected.

In addition to the apparent confirmation of witchcraft as a central theme, Murphy confirmed fellow leaked reports that at least part of the season would shoot in New Orleans, among a variety of real-world locations. Unlike 'American Horror Story's first and second seasons however, 'Coven' will forgo studio sets and shoot on-location. “The fun thing is researching what are the really haunted places in America, and we have a couple doozy locales,” said Murphy.

As expected, Murphy still kept rather tight-lipped about the season's characters and specific story, but confirmed that franchise veteran Jessica Lange and newcomer Kathy Bates would share plenty of scenes "going at it" dramatically. “It’s about a lot of things,” said Murphy of the season's central themes. “It’s a really cool story that we’ve been talking about for a couple of years actually, and this seemed the year to do it.”

In addition to Kathy Bates’ character, ‘American Horror Story: Coven' has already recruited franchise regulars Jessica Lange, Lily Rabe, Taissa Farmiga, Frances Conroy, Evan Peters and Sarah Paulson, with the potential for others going forward. Prior series stars Zachary Quinto and Dylan McDermott have not been confirmed, and may sit the third round out if scheduling falls through.

Murphy has revealed only select details of the FX drama’s third season, including that 'Coven' would have a love story focus akin to the one between Violet and Tate in season 1. The season will be set in the modern day across several cities, occasionally dipping back into the past as the narrative requires.

Murphy also previewed that Evan Peters’ role will likely prove that of a “sobbing psychopath” once again, while Jessica Lange would be a “glamour cat leading lady” of sorts. When asked to elaborate about her "glamour cat" role, Lange was overheard to say at the panel , “I don’t know what a ‘glamour cat’ is, but I am excited.”

Well, what say you? Are you excited to hear that witches will be present for 'American Horror Story' season 3, now called 'American Horror Story: Coven?' What horror mash-ups and stars would you like to see this time around?
