We’ve heard for a while now that Agent Peggy Carter will be making an appearance in Marvel’s ‘Ant-Man’ movie, but we weren’t quite sure how. Hayley Atwell reprised her ‘Captain America’ role for ‘The Winter Soldier,’ which featured a much, much older Peggy, but how old will Peggy be if and when she appears in ‘Ant-Man’? Thanks to the new, official prequel comic from the film, we’ve got some answers.

Marvel’s ‘Ant-Man’ prequel comic is hitting stands next Wednesday, and, like previous Marvel prequel comics, the new book is officially part of MCU canon. The company has released four preview pages from the comic (via Newsarama), which clues us into how Peggy Carter fits into the ‘Ant-Man’ universe.

The comic will take place long before the events of the new film, with a younger version of Michael Douglas’ Dr. Hank Pym working with S.H.I.E.L.D. during the Cold War. As it turns out, he’s working with Peggy Carter, who helps him test out his Ant-Man technology by abruptly shooting at him to teach him a little something about quick thinking. And, well, it works.

While we’d previously heard that we might see a slightly aged-up Peggy via flashbacks in ‘Ant-Man,’ this appears to be the first confirmation of how she’ll be worked into the film. Currently, Hayley Atwell is reprising the role of Peggy Carter for Marvel’s great ‘Agent Carter’ series on ABC, which shows us Peggy’s life post-Captain America, as she helps Howard Stark clear his name, before the two went on to form S.H.I.E.L.D. together.
