'Avengers 2' doesn't come out until next summer and hasn't started filming with its star-studded cast yet, but ABC pre-empted Marvel's 'Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.' tonight to bring us 'Marvel Studios: Assembling a Universe,' a one-hour special on Marvel Studios, which concluded with a never-before-seen sneak peek of the upcoming superhero sequel.

'The Avengers 2' has been filming in Johannesburg, South Africa, which you may have seen through amateur videos, shot by adoring fans, that show people fleeing in terror as trucks are tossed aside in the wake of something (to be inserted later, presumably). While most thought the destruction and effects work being filmed were in preparation for a major action scene for Hulk ... they were half right! The ABC Marvel special revealed concept art for -- wait for it -- a major battle between Tony Stark's (Robert Downey Jr.'s) Hulkbuster Iron Man suit and Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) himself!

The Hulkbuster suit made its debut in 'Iron Man 3' -- it was that hefty one barreling through some shipping containers and pummeling all those Extremis soldiers in the final battle with all of Stark's Iron Man suits. In the comics, this particular installment of the Iron Man suit was the only one capable of withstanding the incredible strength of the Hulk, and it's exciting to hear (or, rather, see) that director Joss Whedon will allow it to serve its intended purpose in 'The Avengers 2.'

In addition, brief shots of concept art for Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) and Quicksilver (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) were shown, but because filming hasn't formally begun yet (they have been shooting some second unit stuff in South Africa without Joss Whedon or the film's cast), there wasn't any actual 'Avengers 2' footage to show off tonight, but that doesn't mean that Marvel didn't come through for us.

'The Avengers 2' (officially titled 'The Avengers: Age of Ultron) will also see James Spader as the villainous sentient robot Ultron and Paul Bettany as Vision joining the ranks of Marvel's ultimate team-up. Scarlett Johansson, whose pregnancy was recently revealed, will fast track her scenes, while principal photography will commence later this year for a May 1, 2015 release date.
