FX’s ‘Bastard Executioner’ Reveals First Photo of Katey Sagal, Sneak Peek at Comic-Con 2015

Sons of Anarchy’s ultimate end is only a few miles behind in our rear-view mirrors, and already series creator Kurt Sutter and star Katey Sagal are back in the limelight. Not only has the first photo of Sagal’s Bastard Executioner character emerged, but so too will FX bring The Bastard Executioner to Anarchy’s old slot at Comic-Con 2015.

Sutter himself revealed the first look at wife Sagal’s Bastard Executioner character “Annora of the Alders” over Instagram, a far cry from the dolled-up Gemma Teller on Sons of Anarchy. We’ll certainly see more at Comic-Con Sunday, July 12, as the network presents an all-star “FX TV Block” featuring the likes of Denis Leary comedy Sex&Drugs&Rock&Roll, The Strain Season 2, and a sneak peek of The Bastard Executioner, all starting at 3:00 P.M.

The Bastard Executioner follows “a warrior knight in King Edward III’s charge who is broken by the ravages of war and vows to lay down his sword. But when that violence finds him again he is forced to pick up the bloodiest sword of all.” Lee Jones will play the title role, with will True Blood star Stephen Moyer acting as his right hand man Milus, and even native Welshman and The Americans lead Matthew Rhys appearing in a guest role.

Time will tell if FX’s The Bastard Executioner proves a worthy followup, but for now take a look at the photo above, pore over the cast list, and decide if Sutter’s Sons followup will live up to the hype.
