Captain America: Civil War introduced two more Marvel heroes, both of whom will hit the big screen in their own solo films over the next couple of years. We know a little about Spider-Man: Homecoming, but not very much at all about Black Panther, aside from the fact that it has a great cast and director. And thanks to one of those actors, we now have our first plot details for the upcoming film.

Not much was said about Black Panther during Marvel’s panel at Comic-Con last weekend, though we did learn that Lupita Nyong’o and The Walking Dead star Danai Gurira will play members of the Dora Milaje, an elite special ops team in Wakanda. During a post-panel chat with Marvel.com (via Collider), Nyong’o spoke a little about the film’s plot — it’s not too revealing, but it is a lot more info than we had before:

The story of this Black Panther is- what am I allowed to say? – The story is that the Black Panther’s leadership is really threatened by two foes who come together, and so Black Panther gets the help of the C.I.A. and the Dora Milaje to try and defeat the enemy.

Black Panther found himself as the new ruler of Wakanda following the events of Civil War, which laid some early groundwork for his upcoming solo film. According to Nyong’o, the hero’s new position has made him a target for at least two antagonists — one of whom is played by Michael B. Jordan. The charismatic Creed star will take on the role of Erik Killmonger, showing us a very, very different side of himself in his MCU debut.

Black Panther hits theaters on July 6, 2018.
