‘Boardwalk Empire’ Season 3 Uncorks First Official Photos

'Boardwalk Empire' season 3 has kept things relatively quiet, either apropos considering the nature of the series, or frustratingly dry. We'd much prefer the liquor to flow like wine and the women to flock like the salmon of Capistrano, so why wait for the first official photographs from season 3? Nucky, Jimmy, Richard Harrow, Van Alden and the rest of the gang are all back, so take a look!

Grab a whiskey bottle and start the party, HBO has finally uncorked the first images from 'Boardwalk Empire' season 3. Following the shocking murder of Jimmy Darmody (Michael Pitt) at the end of season 2, as well as a few other deaths and departures, we weren't sure exactly what 'Boardwalk Empire' season 3 was going to look like, but it looks to be business as usual for these Atlantic City gangsters.

In the photos below, you'll see old favorites like Nucky (Steve Buscemi), Chalky White (Michael K. Williams), Richard Harrow (Jack Huston), and even Nelson Van Alden (Michael Shannon), though the tags of the photos suggest that Van Alden might not necessarily appear until a bit later in the season. You'll also catch your first official glimpse of Bobby Cannavale as new series regular Gyp Rosetti, plus, what is it that Nucky and Margaret seem to be celebrating with such an elaborate cake?  And what's with the eyes Gillian Darmody is giving Richard?

After Pitt, Paz de la Huerta’s Lucy Danziger will no longer be present either, even as her character remains alive. Also joining ‘Boardwalk Empire's' third season is character actor Stephen Root in a recurring role. According to reports, ‘Boardwalk Empire’ season 3 will open some 15 months after the events of "To the Lost,” landing on New Year’s Eve 1922-1923.
