Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have great chemistry. Yes, off the screen (duh), but on screen, as well. The pair made Doug Liman’s ‘Mr. & Mrs. Smith’ a memorable romp. Many wondered if and when they’d work together again, and the answer might be sooner rather than later.

The L.A. Times reports that both Pitt and Jolie are circling roles in Sir Ridley Scott’s ‘The Counselor,’ a legal thriller set in the drug world that already has lured ‘Prometheus’ co-star Michael Fassbender. The story adapts a dark novel by Cormac McCarthy (‘No Country for Old Men,’ ‘The Road’), and follows an attorney (Fassbender) who gets tangled up in the drug trade and struggles to escape from the tangled web.

Several high-powered names have been attached to Scott’s project over the past few months. Jeremy Renner and Natalie Portman are listed as “rumored” on the movie’s IMDB page, while the Times says Javier Bardem is in negotiations to join Pitt and Jolie on the project. Take everything with a grain of salt, I guess, until casting has been confirmed.

Pitt, of course, got his biggest break in the industry when Scott cast him as J.D. in the 1991 smash ‘Thelma & Louise.’ Reuniting on ‘The Counselor’ would be exciting enough, but this cast is shaping up to be one for the ages, and with Scott working off a McCarthy storyline, it sounds like we’re gearing up for something extremely special.
