After watching the first two trailers for Guillermo del Toro’s Crimson Peak, it’s fair to say that we’re all pretty sufficiently pumped for the director’s gothic haunted house tale. The film looks absolutely gorgeous and properly eerie, but these new character posters take a different approach, seemingly taking inspiration from one of del Toro’s favorite horror productions: Disney’s Haunted Mansion attraction.

The new posters are both fun and spooky, and the vivid colors call to mind the Haunted Mansion ride at Disney World — del Toro has been developing a new film based on that ride for many years now, with Ryan Gosling most recently rumored to star.

But before we (hopefully) get to del Toro’s next haunted house film, we’ve got Crimson Peak to look forward to. The new posters feature the four main cast members: Tom Hiddleston, Jessica Chastain, Mia Wasikowska and Charlie Hunnam — if there’s one gripe I have with the trailers for Crimson Peak, it’s that Hunnam and his accent stick out like a sore ghost thumb. Otherwise, del Toro’s new film looks appropriately, romantically gothic and creepy.

In the aftermath of a family tragedy, an aspiring author is torn between love for her childhood friend and the temptation of a mysterious outsider. Trying to escape the ghosts of her past, she is swept away to a house that breathes, bleeds…and remembers.

Crimson Peak also stars Burn Gorman, Jim Beaver and Doug Jones, and hits theaters on October 16.
