There’s nothing strange about cozying up with a new Dave Chappelle special on New Year’s Eve, but there’s something Stranger about its first teaser. See for yourself, as the first look at Chappelle’s Equanimity gets turned up to Eleven.

A busy day for Netflix that saw The Punisher and Longmire’s release (along with new teasers for Easy Season 2 and Grace and Frankie Season 4) has now confirmed the third of Dave Chappelle’s comedy specials will arrive on New Year’s Eve, December 31. No new footage of the Equanimity performance was available, but it looks like the Emmy-adjacent “Netflix Is a Joke” spot wasn’t the only footage of Chappelle digitally inserted into Stranger Things.

Equanimity is the third and final of Chappelle’s Netflix specials under the 2016 deal, and the only one specifically shot for the streaming service. The original two released back-to-back in March, The Age of Spin and Deep in the Heart of Texas, were part of Chappelle’s personal vault of filmed routines, and ended up as some of Netflix’s most-watched specials yet.

Netflix could use some good PR for its comedy branch after canceling Louis C.K.’s second special in the wake of assault reports, so stay tuned for a full trailer of Dave Chappelle’s Equanimity before the December 31 premiere.
