FX is practically assembling its own Avengers of TV talent, and who better to direct them than the Russo brothers? The pair will produce and direct a new DEA crime drama based on Evan Ratliff’s work, with help from a Fargo favorite and the Walking Dead boss.

Per The Hollywood Reporter, FX has begun development of The Mastermind, a new crime drama based on Ratliff’s investigative stories from longform nonfiction publishing platform Atavist Magazine. The Russos will executive produce and direct (boy, they keep busy), while Fargo and Legion showrunner Noah Hawley will executive produce under 26 Keys, along with The Walking Dead’s Robert Kirkman, Skybound Entertainment and Dave Alpert.

Here’s a brief synopsis:

The Mastermind revolves around Paul Le Roux, a former programmer and criminal cartel boss-turned-Drug Enforcement Administration informant.

The series will mark Kirkman’s first official project on FX, which itself originally turned down The Walking Dead. Former Community directors the Russos were also previously working on a Quantum and Woody adaptation, along with Little Nightmares, Hulu’s Warriors and a Showtime weed comedy.

Stay tuned for the latest on The Mastermind, and its murderer’s row of TV talent.
