Kurt Sutter’s ‘Bastard Executioner’ Gets First Bloody FX Trailer
A few days ago at Comic-Con 2015, we had the luxury of catching Sons of Anarchy creator Kurt Sutter’s exclusive preview of FX’s The Bastard Executioner, promising a “dark as pitch” vision of medieval brutality. Now, the Bastard is on full display to the public, as FX debuts the first official promo for the new Kurt Sutter saga.
As we saw from Comic-Con, the first footage deftly sells the sense of scope and brutality to the series, which has been described as “a contemporary view of a dangerous medieval world.” It’s certainly not for the faint of heart either, with a number of throats slit, decapitations and piled-on bodies.
The Bastard Executioner follows “a warrior knight in King Edward III’s charge who is broken by the ravages of war and vows to lay down his sword. But when that violence finds him again he is forced to pick up the bloodiest sword of all.” Lee Jones will play the title role, with will True Blood star Stephen Moyer acting as his right hand man Milus, Katey Sagal appearing as “Annora of the Alders,” and even native Welshman and The Americans lead Matthew Rhys lands in a guest role.
The full Bastard Executioner cast list also offers an expansive preview of the new series, but in the meantime, you can check out all the bloodsport for yourself in the trailer above, and stay tuned for the FX premiere sometime this coming September.
