It’s that time again, as Game of Thrones has murdered its way through another 9 episodes, leaving us with Sunday Season 5 finale “Mother’s Mercy.” HBO would be hard-pressed to top this past weekend’s climactic “Dance of Dragons,” but what do the full set of finale photos reveal about Daenerys’ whereabouts?

Nothing! Yep, ol’ dragon-riding Dany is nowhere to be found among HBO’s first preview photos of Season 5 finale “Mother’s Mercy,” as Jorah, Tyrion and Daario forlornly chill in the throne room, presumably bummed over not getting to ride dragons themselves. Elsewhere, Sansa look appropriately horrified, while Cersei seems increasingly stripped of her power, and Stannis looks to be in relatively good spirits for someone who just burned his daughter at the stake.

So reads HBO’s official finale synopsis for “Mother’s Mercy”:

Episode #50: “Mother’s Mercy” (season finale)

Stannis marches. Dany is surrounded by strangers. Cersei (Lena Headey) seeks forgiveness. Jon is challenged.

Written by David Benioff & D.B. Weiss; directed by David Nutter.

Of course, we’ve already started looking forward to Season 6, but will this Sunday’s Season 5 closer prove too difficult to get through? How might the story stick to what we know of George R.R. Martin’s books? What other depraved and horrible murders can Game of Thrones throw at us? Check out the full set of finale photos above, and pray for “Mother’s Mercy” this coming Sunday!
