New ‘Game of Thrones’ Season 7 Blu-ray Animation Recounts Targaryen Rise
The name “Aegon Targaryen” got thrown around a bit in Game of Thrones Season 7, and you’d be forgiven to lose sight of Westeros’ elaborate history. No longer, as the announcement of Season 7’s Blu-ray brings with it an animated retelling of the Targaryen rise.
HBO declared Game of Thrones: The Complete Seventh Season will hit Blu-ray and DVD on December 12, with Digital Download available as early as September 25. They even released the first featurette early, as Harry Lloyd (Viserys Targaryen) narrates an animated recounting of the “Doom of Old Valyria,” all the way through the construction of Dragonstone, and Aegon’s exploration of Westeros with his sisters.
Considering how important “Aegon” proved to the big revelations of “The Dragon and the Wolf,” it certainly helps to contextualize the history alluded to in prior seasons, and get a sense of how the seven kingdoms came to be. The actual Blu-ray will of course feature much more, as outlined below:
