James Gunn isn’t sure if he wants to return for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, but for the time being he’s focusing on the present — working on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. Marvel’s sequel will introduce us to Peter Quill’s long-lost father, teased in the first film with a vague hint about his space-dwelling parentage. Gunn remains tight-lipped about the character’s identity, but he has offered a new storyboard image for you to agonize over like a game of Marvel Pictionary.

So far, we only know that Gunn isn’t sticking faithfully to the comics when it comes to Star-Lord’s dad, played in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 by Kurt Russell. If he’s not J’Son of Spartax, that still leaves a few options, including Adam Warlock. Gunn revealed this image on Facebook, and though he’s keeping the character’s identity a secret and doesn’t think you’ll ever figure it out before the film hits theaters, he’s well-aware that this won’t keep you from trying to solve the puzzle:

Another Wednesday, another shot we just just shot from one of my original thumbnails. I don’t think you’ll ever guess...

That blobby thing in the middle of what appears to be a spaceship’s beam could be just about anything. For all we know, Star-Lord’s dad is a giant alien pea pod. Anyway, have fun trying to guess!

The sequel features returning cast members Chris Pratt as Peter Quill / Star-Lord, Zoe Saldana as Gamora, Dave Bautista as Drax, Vin Diesel as Groot and Bradley Cooper as Rocket Raccoon, with Glenn Close, Michael Rooker and Karen Gillan. They’re joined by newcomers Kurt Russell, Elizabeth Debicki, Chris Sullivan and Pom Klementieff as Mantis.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 hits theaters on May 5, 2017.
