Damon Lindelof’s HBO ‘Watchmen’ Gets Pilot Order and More
We’re one step closer to watching the Watchmen. After Leftovers boss Damon Lindelof tipped that a writers room had opened for his new take on the Alan Moore comic, HBO confirms the series has a pilot order, and is already looking beyond.
Per the network’s official announcement, the as-yet-unrevealed series will produce a pilot episode, while Lindelof and his unidentified team will also work on additional scripts. For the moment, no major details of the story have been released, though HBO did previously specify Lindelof wouldn’t adapt the graphic novel as Zack Snyder did with his film.
For those unfamiliar with Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons’ original 1986 work, Watchmen explored a world in which the emergence of costumed heroes (and one super-powered being) radically altered history, as the murder of a retired hero reunites them to unravel a doomsday plot. Zack Snyder’s 2009 film adaptation starred Malin Akerman, Patrick Wilson, Matthew Goode, Billy Crudup, Jackie Earle Haley, and Jeffrey Dean Morgan.
HBO will likely come forth with additional Watchmen details in the next few months, but might Lindelof’s take be their next flagship hit?
