The Network of Bad Choices may have today canceled Hannibal, but don’t you worry your pretty brains about Heroes Reborn! Elaborate prank or otherwise, the revived NBC series at least has a new teaser (absent any actual Heroes), as well as a firm September premiere date set by today’s announcements. So, where are all the Heroes, you ask?

No one knows! Despite actual footage supposedly shown at the NBC Upfronts last month, our latest look at Heroes Reborn casts an admittedly intriguing look at a world asking “Where are the Heroes,” set to a choral rendition of Metallica‘s “Nothing Else Matters.” Effective, but The Leftovers did it better.

Of course, the teaser raises further questions anyway, as when last we left the original Heroes, the world at large had only just become aware of people with “abilities.” Are we to presume that Heroes Reborn picks up after an age in which the so-called heroes operated in public, and have since gone into hiding?

Now set to premiere Thursday, September 24, so reads the official Heroes Reborn logline:

From original creator Tim Kring, the supernatural phenomenon begins again with a fresh crop of inspiring heroes who take on the ultimate struggle between those with extraordinary abilities and those with nefarious motives to hunt and harness their powers. Epic adventures await these newly empowered allies as they cross paths with some of the original characters (such as the beloved “HRG” and fan-favorite time-traveler Hiro Nakamura), unlocking the mysterious fate of the universe and their place within it.

In addition to Chuck / Thor: the Dark World star Zachary Levi, Heroes Reborn boasts among its cast Orphan Black alum Dylan Bruce, Once Upon A Time villain Robbie Kay, Ryan Guzman, Danika Yarosh, Judith Shekoni, Kiki Sukezane, Henry Zebrowski and Gatlin Green. Returning from the original cast thus far are Cristine Rose (Angela Petrelli), Sendhil Ramamurthy (Mohinder Suresh), Matt Parkman (Greg Grunberg), Jack Coleman (Noah Bennet), Masi Oka (Hiro Nakamura) and Jimmy-Jean Louis (The Haitian).

We’ll surely find out more at (and hopefully see the actual trailer before) Comic-Con 2015, but does the newest Heroes Reborn drive any interest in the revival? Check out the key art below in the meantime.
