Netflix Sets ‘Longmire’ for One Final Season in 2017
It’s hard to believe that A&E let go of Longmire some three years ago, leaving Netflix to swoop in with a fourth season renewal, just as it had for The Killing. Now, not only is Longmire coming back for a sixth season, its third on the streaming service, but Walt and the other Wyoming lawmen (and women) will officially ride into the sunset in 2017.
Netflix confirmed a sixth and final season order for Longmire, streaming another round of 10 episodes at an undetermined date in 2017. Only Season 2 of the former A&E series ran for a full 13 episodes, while the rest have come in at 10. Say executive producers Greer Shephard, Hunt Baldwin and John Coveny:
We are grateful for the opportunity to compose a closing chapter for these beloved characters that inspires lasting memories. Most importantly, we’re committed to delivering a dynamic and satisfying conclusion to our fans that rewards their longtime loyalty.
The series (based on the Craig Johnson’s Walt Longmire books) began on A&E in 2012, starring Robert Taylor as the title sheriff of Absaroka County, Wyoming, with Battlestar Galactica star Katee Sackhoff as protegé Victoria “Vic” Moretti and Lou Diamond Phillips as Henry Standing Bear.
All episodes of the first five seasons are available to stream on Netflix, and you can catch the Season 5 trailer below.
