Lucy Liu Joins ‘Luke Cage’ Season 2 as Director
We’re still waiting for Luke Cage to return from Seagate in time for The Defenders, but it looks like Harlem’s hero already has some company on the streets of Season 2. As production continues, Elementary star Lucy Liu has been announced as early director.
Liu was first observed on the Harlem set alongside star Mike Colter, and BuzzFeed has since confirmed the former Charlie’s Angel will direct the second season’s premiere installment. Said Liu:
What a thrill to collaborate with Marvel and Netflix, two industry titans, who paint our world with inspiring stories and beguiling characters. It is such an honor to work with such a passionate and fearless team.
Added Marvel TV boss Jeph Loeb:
When you're dealing with a bulletproof man, it helps if you have a bulletproof director. Lucy brings a keen eye, a superb sense of story, and an obvious love of actors. She is rocking Luke Cage 2.
Elsewhere of Luke Cage Season 2, Mustafa Shakir and Gabrielle Dennis have been added to the cast as Bushmaster alter-ego John McIver and Dr. Tilda Johnson (Nightshade in the books). Simone Missick will also return as Misty Knight, along with Rosario Dawson as Claire Temple, Alfre Woodard as Mariah Dillard, and Theo Rossi as ‘Shades.’
Production on Season 2 of Marvel’s Luke Cage continues in New York City, so stay tuned for the latest from Comic-Con 2017 in the meantime.
