If the prospect of a rebooted Magic School Bus on Netflix hadn’t caught your interest before, its note-perfect Ms. Frizzle casting might. Stepping up to fill those wild outfits behind the mic is none other than SNL favorite Kate McKinnon, and really – who else were you picturing?

Netflix hasn’t released terribly many details of its forthcoming animated Magic School Bus Rides Again just yet, beyond setting McKinnon in the educational role once occupied by Lily Tomlin. The computer-animated series will follow its predecessor’s lead with Ms. Frizzle taking her elementary school students on a series of supernatural field trips, spanning everywhere from outer space to the human body.

Based on the iconic books, the prior series ran for four PBS seasons from 1994 to 1997, netting current Grace and Frankie star Tomlin a Daytime Emmy in the process. At least some prior cast members have been said to return in new roles, though Netflix has been keeping most details under wraps since at least 2014.

No firm date has been set, but what should we expect from Kate McKinnon’s Ms. Frizzle? Stay tuned for more on The Magic School Bus Rides Again.
