Just yesterday saw Krysten Ritter emerging as the frontrunner for Marvel’s ‘Jessica Jones’ Netflix series, with Mike Colter somewhat less certain to be our ‘Luke Cage,’ and today Marvel has officially followed suit to confirm Ritter’s role as the super-powered private detective. Not only that, but the Netflix series to follow ‘Daredevil’ has a shiny new title, becoming Marvel’s ‘AKA Jessica Jones.’

Marvel’s official announcement of Ritter’s casting brought with it the unique title change, sure to kick off the same debates of AP style that followed the naming of Marvel’s ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D..’ In any case, the press release also confirmed that we’d see the Netflix take on Ritter’s PTSD-addled former superhero in 2015, sometime after the debut of Marvel’s ‘Daredevil.’

For those unfamiliar with the Marvel character, ‘Jessica Jones’ emerged in ‘Alias’ comics as a superhero suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder, leading her to hang up the costume and opening a detective agency, wherein she helps both super and human clients. The character has also frequently been seen to share a romantic relationship with Luke Cage, who himself will appear in 6-7 episodes before headlining the fourth and final ‘Defenders’ lead-in series.

For the moment at least, ‘Jessica Jones’ has only writer and showrunner Melissa Rosenberg locked in, with no word yet on any ‘Iron Fist’ casting choices. ‘True Detective’’s Alexandra Daddario, Teresa Palmer and ‘Arrow’’s Jessica De Gouw had previously been in contention for ‘Jessica Jones,’ coming down to chemistry readings off likely ‘Luke Cage’ choice Colter.

We’ve still a ways to go before even ‘Daredevil’ hits the streets, but what say you? Do you approve of Krysten Ritter’s official casting for the newly-titled role of Marvel’s ‘AKA Jessica Jones?’ Tell us what you want from Marvel’s Netflix ‘Defenders’ in the comments!
