One of the biggest reasons Marvel Studios is dominating the landscape of comic book movies is its strategy. The studio releases films in "phases," planning their next films years in advance to allow time to select the right writers, directors and cast. And now Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has revealed that they've got films planned all the way through 2021.

During an interview with Wired magazine, Feige stated:

I could arguably say what we're planning for the year 2021. Will that happen? I don't know. But what we planned for 2015 in 2006 is happening.

And what do they have in 2015? 'The Avengers 2' and 'Ant-Man' -- which means they planned these films nine years in advance! Feige went on to tease new characters and standalone films:

Five years ago, looking at our plan, we knew that if 'Avengers' was going to work, the movies had to stand alone. Now we have to prove to the studio that we're more than just these five characters, these five franchises.

While Marvel Studios said they won't be announcing any more films in the near future, we're still holding out hope that they may make some sort of announcement at the D23 Disney Expo this week. The films rumored for the highly anticipated announcement of Phase 3 include 'Black Panther' and 'Doctor Strange,' along with that 'Avengers 3,' for which Robert Downey, Jr. is already locked down to reprise Iron Man.

But what films and heroes do you want to see in Marvel's Phase 3? Let us know!
