Just yesterday we got our first official look at Quentin Tarantino’s The Hateful Eight via a mustache-heavy Entertainment Weekly cover, implying that Kurt Russell probably doesn’t even have to act in this movie because his mustache will do all the work for him. As it should. Today brings eight new images from the highly-anticipated upcoming film, introducing all eight of those hateful characters.

The images in the gallery above also come from EW, and feature the main cast all bundled up and looking rather chilly — except for Bruce Dern, who just looks incredulous at life in general. Let’s break it down:

Jennifer Jason Leigh plays Daisy Domergue, a notorious outlaw who is captured and held prisoner by John Ruth, a bounty hunter played by Kurt Russell’s mustache (I’m going to start this Oscar campaign right here and now). Samuel L. Jackson plays Major Marquis Warren, a former Union officer; Michael Madsen is a cowboy named Joe Gage; Walton Goggins is Chris Mannix, a man who claims he’s a sheriff; Bruce Dern plays General Samford Smithers, a former Confederate general (that should sit well with Marquis Warren); and Demian Bichir plays Bob, a Hispanic innkeeper.

En route to Red Rock, the group find themselves trapped at an inn in the midst of a horrible snowstorm. Tim Roth also stars as Oswaldo Mobray (take that, Star Wars characters), a British man who was recently employed as the new hangman at Red Rock.

Channing Tatum is also in the cast, although he’s not featured in any of the official images so far, and his role is being kept something of a secret.

In THE HATEFUL EIGHT, set six or eight or twelve years after the Civil War, a stagecoach hurtles through the wintry Wyoming landscape. The passengers, bounty hunter John Ruth (Russell) and his fugitive Daisy Domergue (Leigh), race towards the town of Red Rock where Ruth, known in these parts as “The Hangman,” will bring Domergue to justice. Along the road, they encounter two strangers: Major Marquis Warren (Jackson), a black former union soldier turned infamous bounty hunter, and Chris Mannix (Goggins), a southern renegade who claims to be the town’s new Sheriff. Losing their lead on the blizzard, Ruth, Domergue, Warren and Mannix seek refuge at Minnie’s Haberdashery, a stagecoach stopover on a mountain pass. When they arrive at Minnie’s, they are greeted not by the proprietor but by four unfamiliar faces. Bob (Bichir), who’s taking care of Minnie’s while she’s visiting her mother, is holed up with Oswaldo Mobray (Roth), the hangman of Red Rock, cow-puncher Joe Gage (Madsen), and Confederate General Sanford Smithers (Dern). As the storm overtakes the mountainside stopover, our eight travelers come to learn they may not make it to Red Rock after all…

The Hateful Eight hits theaters sometime later this year, likely around Christmas.
