Marvel’s Netflix ‘Daredevil’ Adds ‘Hunger Games’ Star as Foggy Nelson
After Marvel's forthcoming Netflix 'Daredevil' series cast its biggest roles in Charlie Cox's Matt Murdock and Vincent D'Onofrio's Kingpin, we were a bit surprised to see Rosario Dawson's unknown character next in line for a big reveal. Now, our new Foggy Nelson has at last been found, courtesy of 'The Hunger Games: Mockingjay' star Elden Henson!
Also recognizable from his parts in 'The Mighty Ducks' franchise and Ashton Kutcher's 'The Butterfly Effect,' Elden Henson will take the role of Foggy Nelson, Matt Murdock’s best friend and legal partner. As described in Marvel's announcement, "in a town full of crime and corruption, Foggy's friendship to the community and passion for improving it have made him a friend to its many residents from all walks of life."
Says Marvel TV head Jeph Loeb of the casting:
Elden plays one of the most important characters in the world of 'Marvel’s Daredevil,' and we’re thrilled to see Foggy Nelson brought to life by such an incredibly talented actor. He perfectly captures the heart and soul of this series, bringing an added resonance to Matt Murdock’s fight against the injustice in their great city.
Apart from taking place in the same cinematic universe as ‘The Avengers‘ and ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D,’ we know that each Marvel Netflix series will shoot 13 episodes, culminating in an eight-episode team-up with ‘The Defenders’ miniseries and bringing the total to 60 episodes (to start). Drew Goddard, though he was replaced as showrunner by Steven S. DeKnight, will remain a consultant, while Melissa Rosenberg remains attached to ‘Jessica Jones.’ That leaves ‘Iron Fist’ and ‘Luke Cage’ without any major names confirmed, for the moment.
The role had previously been filled by 'Iron Man' director Jon Favreau in Ben Affleck's 2003 take on the character, but what do you think? Is Elden Henson a worthy addition as Foggy Nelson to Marvel's 'Daredevil' TV series? Tell us what you want to see from the Man Without Fear when his new show debuts in 2015!
