No doubt we all need to clear our heads a bit after last night's horribly upsetting 'Game of Thrones' episode, "The Rains of Castamere," and how better to unwind than with a new trailer for HBO's 'The Newsroom' season 2 that doesn't appear to make a lick of sense? Strap on your Aaron Sorkin-bashing helmets, and get ready to artfully explore the desert!

We're not the type to mindlessly pick on writer Aaron Sorkin without just cause, but we're betting the first major promo for the controversial HBO drama's second season might have needed a little more time to bake -- figuratively, anyway. The first full trailer for 'The Newsroom' season 2, premiering July 14, hit in advance of last night's 'Game of Thrones,' and features the principal cast moodily stalking about a desert, news desks and all. Whatever that means.

The second season features appearances by ‘Justified‘ star Patton Oswalt as the fictional networks new vice president of human resources, Marcia Gay Harden as litigator Rebecca Halliday and Meryl Streep’s daughter Grace Gummer as a reporter embedded within the Mitt Romney campaign, to which Jim has since relocated. We know that much of season 2 will focus on the 2012 elections, but Sorkin added to the list of news stories events such as Trayvon Martin, the Affordable Care Act, drones, Dominique Strauss-Kahn and Muammar Gaddafi.

If your eyes haven't liquified from all of last night's tears, check out the latest 'Newsroom' trailer (above), and tell us if you'll tune in for the July 14 premiere in the comments? What do you think of HBO's latest ad?
