Watch Spider-Man Prank Unsuspecting Starbucks Customers in This Hilarious Video
Spider-Man likes cold brew. Who knew? I would have figured him for a Iced Cinnamon Almondmilk Macchiato man myself.
Spidey’s preferred (and now canonical) coffee order is featured in the very funny video above, part of the marketing campaign for the upcoming Spider-Man: Homecoming film. A New York City Starbucks was outfitted with a little hole in the ceiling where a stuntman could swoop down and pick up his order, surprising (and occasionally absolutely terrifying) the actual coffee customers. And then he’d swing up, up, and away to await his next victim. And of course, Stan Lee was there too (or somewhere else, and then conveniently edited into the video later). Even in the cross-promotional marketing videos with corporate coffee tie-ins, there must be Stan Lee cameos!
Craven commercialism aside, this is actually very well done. And the Spider-Man stand-in has some legitimate Spidey skills; stick around (heh) to the end to catch him doing some flips and leaps that would make you wonder if he’s spent any time in close proximity to radioactive arachnids. I still maintain that Spider-Man is not a cold brew drinker. Maybe regular iced coffee. With a shot of vanilla? And a side of Spider-Man Pop Tarts.
Spider-Man: Homecoming opens in theaters on July 7. Between now and then, I would be very cautious entering Starbucks. Examine every ceiling. Look behind every corner. And if Stan Lee is sitting inside drinking a latte, get the heck out of there.
