‘Supernatural’ Eyes Animated ‘Scooby-Doo’ Episode in Season 13
Sam and Dean have gone just about everywhere twelve seasons of Supernatural could take them, save one realm: animation. Yes, the Winchesters have drawn up an animated episode for Season 13, placing them into the world of – jinkies! – Scooby-Doo.
The CW announced its upcoming animated Supernatural episode for Season 13 this fall, in the process assuring Upfront audiences they were not, in fact, kidding. In fact, here’s a first look at Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki getting the animated treatment, alongside their pal Scooby-Doo:
Granted, this is far from the first occasion Supernatural has strayed into meta concept episodes, as prior seasons have dabbled in musicals, cartoon-themed killers, and even an alternate reality trip to the actual set of Supernatural. In fact, the series has even gone animated once before, as Warner Bros. released an anime series featuring the pair.
Ahead of Season 12’s finale, here’s an early synopsis for Season 13:
The exciting journey of the Winchester brothers continues as SUPERNATURAL enters its thirteenth season. Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) have encountered every kind of supernatural threat, facing down monsters, demons, and gods. Saving people, hunting things, and keeping the world safe. In the show’s twelfth season, the Winchesters were reunited with their long-dead mother, and joined forces with the British arm of the Men of Letters. But things turned from bad to worse, with the return of Lucifer and the surprising revelation that the Devil is expecting a child. Now, Sam and Dean find themselves facing a creature of almost unimaginable power… one that could save the world… or destroy it.
We’ll likely hear more details over the summer, so stay tuned for Scooby-Doo and Shaggy to scarf snacks with Sam and Dean.
