You wouldn’t be alone in forgetting HBO’s The Leftovers was renewed for Season 2, though the network itself appears at last to have remembered. Schedule the next Sudden Departure with a brand-new teaser for The Leftovers Season 2, which already courts its first mystery beyond the fall premiere.

Though no official date has yet been issued, The Leftovers Season 2's first teaser trailer sets a fall premiere for the Damon Lindelof Rapture drama, which itself moves beyond the scope of author Tom Perotta’s original book. The new spot relocates us to Jarden, Texas, outside a long line of traffic, as welcome sign mysteriously notes that the town had zero departures from its ranks.

The Leftovers Season 2 will keep from its cast series leads Justin Theroux, Amy Brenneman, Chris Zylka, Margaret Qualley, Christopher Eccleston and Carrie Coon, with Liv Tyler and Ann Dowd also earmarked for potential returns. The new run will also follow an African-American family, including Kevin Carroll as new Garvey neighbor and volunteer firefighter John Murphy, his wife Erika (Regina King), and their churchgoing son Michael (Jovan Adepo). Family Matters star Darius McCrary will also recur as Isaac Rayney, a palm reader and childhood friend of John’s.

Prepare for the next departure point with The Leftovers Season 2 tease above, and start dusting off those crazed theories for the fall return.
