There are many reasons a film can go back for reshoots. Sometimes, it's because the filmmakers need a few extra shots or scenes to make the movie better or fix a few issues. Sometimes, it's because the whole project is a disaster the needs surgery. We're not sure why 'Thor: The Dark World' is currently shooting new scenes, but we do know that much of the new footage will revolve around everyone's favorite mischievous Norse god/supervillain, Loki.

Although Chris Hemsworth's Thor is the guy with his name in the title of the movie, Tom Hiddleston's Loki has been one of the major break-out characters of the Marvel movie universe, winning the love and approval of longtime comic fans and adoring Tumblr fangirls alike. Hiddleston broke some hearts when he confirmed that Loki won't have a role in 'The Avengers: Age of Ultron,' but a larger role for character in 'Thor 2' should ease the pain.

The news about new scenes for Loki comes straight from director Alan Taylor, who discussed the nature of the reshoots with Collider at D23. It seems that the higher-ups at Marvel love Hiddleston and Loki just as much as the fans:

We're doing full scenes, scenes that were not in the movie before. We're adding scenes, creating scenes, writing scenes for the first time. We realized how well Loki was working in the movie, and we wanted to do more with him. So it was that kind of thing, it was like, 'Oh, we could do this, we could jam this in here because he's such a wonderful guy to watch do his stuff.'

Last minute reshoots and changes are not new at Marvel, where filmmakers work hand-in-hand with studio head Kevin Feige up until the very last minutes. Footage for 'Iron Man 3' and 'The Avengers' was being shot weeks before release (including the famous shawarma scene), so it's not surprising that 'Thor: The Dark World' is getting some tweaks. It's especially not surprising that they're working to get more of one of their most popular characters in the next movie.

What do you think? Are you happy to have more Loki in your Thor movie? Or are you getting tired of the Mighty Avenger taking backseat to his backstabbing brother?
