Batman’s beloved sidekick was implied to have met a bitter end in the DCEU, but Robin is alive and well on TV. See for yourself in our first official photo from DC’s live-action Titans series, as Brenton ThwaitesDick Grayson gets a note-perfect costume for the modern age.

Ahead of the series’ 2018 premiere on DC’s upcoming streaming service, Titans released a first-look photo of the Pirates of the Caribbean star suited up as the team’s Robin. The outfit was assembled by costume designer Laura Jean Shannon, who is noted to have worked on The CW’s Black Lightning, and the first Iron Man film.

The Titans version of Robin “emerges from Batman’s shadow to become the leader of a fearless band of young, soon-to-be superheroes recruited from every corner of the DC Universe.” Thwaites also joins Alan Ritchson and Minka Kelly as Hawk and Dove, 24 alum Anna Diop as “Starfire” princess Koriand’r, Ryan Potter as Beast Boy and young Australian Teagan Croft as Raven.

The series is written by Akiva Goldsman, DC boss Geoff Johns and DC TV leader Greg Berlanti. Worth noting, the initial press release included a classic cover for The New Teen Titans that features Raven, Starfire, Kid Flash, Robin, Beast Boy, Cyborg and Wonder Girl, though Kid Flash already appears on The CW’s Flash, while Cyborg was prominently elevated to the live-action Justice League.

Thwaites is our first live-action Robin since Batman & Robin (none of that Dark Knight Rises business, please and thank you), so stay tuned for the latest on Titans.
