The Avengers to Join Season 2 of ‘Ultimate Spider-Man’

It's a good time for fans of the Marvel Universe as Disney XD announced today that animated series, 'Ultimate Spider-Man' is getting a second season. And this time around, Spidey will be joined by the most celebrated superhero team of the summer, The Avengers.

According to the official press release, the teen web-slinger and pals, including Iron Man, Thor, The Hulk and Wolverine will face off against "classic Spider-Man villains such as the Lizard and other familiar faces."

The second season will also explore "the secret origins of (fans')  favorite S.H.I.E.L.D. trainees, with more revealed about Nova, Iron Fist, Power Man and White Tiger."

And the series sophomore run looks to be in good hands, with Marvel vet and consulting producer, Brian Michael Bendis penning a number of episodes and the Man of Action team (Joe Casey, Joe Kelly, Duncan Rouleau and Steven T. Seagle) back on as co-executive producers.

Hopefully, the return of Disney XD's number one animated series, which premiered in April, should satiate Marvel fans hungry for 'The Avengers' sequel. In the meantime, check out pics of Spider-Man and friends from the upcoming second season below.
