It’s a big year for Wu-Tang Clan nostalgia. Earlier this year, Showtime brought viewers the four-part documentary series Of Mics & Men, and this fall Hulu will unveil the band’s biopic series, Wu-Tang: An American Saga.

A new trailer has surfaced for the upcoming series, showing a bit of how the members of the highly influential hip-hop group emerged from rough neighborhoods to finding their way out through groundbreaking music.

Rza and Method Man serve as co-executive producers (alongside Brian Grazer), ensuring that their stamp of authenticity is placed upon the upcoming series. Rza also was a writer and co-creator of the series, teaming up with screenwriter Alex Tse.

“I’m delighted to be partnering with Hulu and Imagine to explore the vast story of the Wuniverse,” RZA said in a statement upon announcing the show. “Wu-Tang through our music has always strove to inspire as we entertain. This opportunity to continue the Wu-Saga in a 10-episode series will exponentially increase our inspirational style of entertainment. In the immortal words of ODB, ‘Wu-Tang is for the Children.'”

The familiar hook of Wu-Tang’s “C.R.E.A.M.” plays over the trailer as a young Rza starts to explore his musical creativity on the turntable. There’s also a montage of Wu-Tang’s different members as they’re portrayed in the series. Raekwon, Gza, Ghostface Killah, Method Man, Ol’ Dirty Bastard and Inspectah Deck are all featured, but several other members didn’t make the trailer cut. That said, all of the Wu-Tang Clan members are expected to be represented in the series. You can watch the trailer at the bottom of this post. Ashton Sanders of Moonlight fame is expected to lead the cast.

Hulu will spool out the Wu-Tang clan story over ten episodes, starting with a Sept. 4 premiere. The series is based on the books The Wu-Tang Manual and Tao of Wu.
