Marvel's 'Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.' season 2 has opened up quite a bit in recent weeks to show off both its 'Agent Carter' cameo and a few new villains, but things have been notably light on the H-word, specifically the Hydra presence the series worked so hard to conceal last season. Well, out of the "Shadows" and into the light, as new photos from the September 23 premiere put both Peggy Carter and Hydra back in action!

Arriving from Marvel themselves, the latest photos of Marvel's 'Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.' season 2 premiere "Shadows" shows off a bit more flashback to Peggy Carter's days with the Howling Commandos, presumably before the events of 'Agent Carter.' We're guessing the Hydra logo comes from a 1940s-era base as well, unless the Nazi rogue science division has gotten a trifle less conspicuous since the events of 'Captain America: The Winter Soldier.'

Meanwhile, here's how ABC describes September 23 premiere "Shadows":

Coulson and his team are now wanted fugitives with limited resources--but that's not stopping them from keeping the world safe from powerful and unseen threats everywhere. However, with new members they hardly know, will S.H.I.E.L.D. ever be trusted again?

Guest starring are B.J. Britt as Agent Antoine Triplett, Nick Blood as Agent Lance Hunter, Adrian Pasdar as Brigadier General Glenn Talbot, Henry Simmons as Alphonso "Mack" Mackenzie, Patton Oswalt as Agent Billy Koenig, Lucy Lawless as Isabelle "Izzy" Hartley, Wilmer Calderon as Idaho, Reed Diamond as Daniel Whitehall, Hayley Atwell as Peggy Carter, Brian Patrick Wade as Carl Creel, Matthew Glave as Roger Browning, Simon Kassianides as Sunil Bakshi, George Stephanopoulos as self, Raquel Gardner as Carla Talbot, Ben Turner Nixon as Hydra Officer, Franco Vega as Military Leader, Rich Ceraulo as Soldier #1, and JB Tadena as Private Tilden.

Elsewhere of 'Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.' season 2, we know that Lucy Lawless will play veteran agent Isabelle HartleyNick Blood will play mercenary Lance Hunter, Brian Patrick Wade will play Carl "Crusher" Creel, and 'Dollhouse’ star / Whedon favorite Reed Diamond will take the role of Daniel Whitehall (Secret Wars’ Kraken) as a Hydra baddie. 'Twin Peaks' star Kyle MacLachlan will appear as Skye's apparently-gooey father, while Cobie Smulders' Maria Hill has been confirmed for an eventual reappearance as well, and 'Friday Night Lights' star Adrianne Palicki will play Barbara Morse, better known as Marvel's "Mockingbird."
