Earlier in the week we cleared up a bit of 'Arrow' season 2 news that suggested an upcoming episode title would pay homage to Batman villain Ra's Al Ghul, instead referencing a more general take on DC comic group the "League of Assassins." Now, their leader has a familiar face, as 'Homeland' big bad Navid Negahban has joined the cast in another villainous role.

E! first reported the news of Negahban's casting in the scimitar-wielding role of Al-Owal, name translated as "The First," a League of Assassins member who comes to Starling City in order to threaten someone close to Oliver. A few reports have differed, but sources say the character has trained with Malcolm Merlyn (John Barrowman), and will look to harm a character named "Lisa."

Navid Negahban recurred on 'Homeland' over two seasons, acting as a regular in the second before exiting the series altogether. Negahban has also appeared on '24' in the past.

In addition to incorporating Metamorpho, The Atom and The Flash, ‘Arrow’ season 2 will pick up on October 9 some time after the events of season 1 finale “Sacrifice,” continuing its ‘Batman Begins’-influenced storytelling with the addition of new villains Isabel Rochev (Summer Glau), Brother Blood (Kevin Alejandro), Bronze Tiger (Michael Jai White) and DC character Sin (‘The Killing”s Bex Taylor Klaus). Guest stars Colton Haynes (Roy Harper), Emily Bett Rickards (Felicity Smoak) and Manu Bennett (Slade Wilson) have all been upgraded to series regulars for the second year in Starling City.

We'll keep an eye out for the latest 'Arrow' season 2 castings, but what say you? Are you excited to see Oliver Queen take on the "League of Assassins" this year?
