‘Agent Carter’ Season 2 Moves to L.A., Will Return Between ‘S.H.I.E.L.D.’
Marvel fans the world over breathed a collective sigh of relief when ABC announced that Agent Carter would return for Season 2, but Peggy may yet have some big changes on the horizon. The ass-kicking period drama will again premiere sandwiched between Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. episodes, but will lift off for sunny Los Angeles and a Marvel-ous new threat.
News of Peggy’s assured return came with ABC’s 2015-2016 schedule announcement, and while the network didn’t specify an exact premiere, it seems safe to say Agent Carter Season 2 will follow its predecessor in taking over S.H.I.E.L.D.‘s Tuesday at 9:00 P.M. timeslot. Most surprising however, was the synopsis of Agent Carter’s next mission:
Dedicated to the fight against new atomic age threats in the wake of World War II, Peggy must now journey from New York City to Los Angeles for her most dangerous assignment yet. But even as she discovers new friends, a new home – and perhaps even a new love – she’s about to find out that the bright lights of the post-war Hollywood mask a more sinister threat to everyone she is sworn to protect.
The move certainly makes sense from a production standpoint, considering Agent Carter Season 1 redressed Los Angeles sets and locations to resemble 1940s New York, though relocation may bring something of a wrinkle to the current cast. Only Hayley Atwell was credited with the release, leaving the Season 2 fates of James D’Arcy (Jarvis), Dominic Cooper (Howard Stark), Chad Michael Murray (Jack Thompson), Enver Gjokaj (Daniel Sousa) and Lyndsy Fonseca (Angie Martinelli) somewhat in question.
Of course, it’d make sense for Jarvis or Howard to pop up in L.A. (what with Tony maintaining a presence there in the MCU), though it would seem unlikely every member of Peggy’s world returns for Season 2. We’ll find out more as Agent Carter heads for the coast in 2016, but what sinister threats might Peggy face in Season 2?
