The 2002 road movie 'Crossroads' was meant to be Britney Spears' golden ticket to big screen fame. It didn't quite work out that way. But over the years the film has earned a fan following for its cheesy plot, frequent musical performances and cast of up-and-coming young stars.

See what the cast of 'Crossroads' looks like today below.

Then: When Britney starred in 'Crossroads' as a small town girl with big dreams she was ranked as the world's most powerful celebrity by Forbes Magazine. Her third album, 'Britney,' was on its way to 15 million in sales, she had a slew of lucrative endorsements and she was dating fellow pop sensation Justin Timberlake.

Now: Let's just say it's been a weird decade for Brit, full of quickie marriages, head shaving, a court-ordered mental health conservatorship and a man named K-Fed. But she's been on an upswing lately thanks to her hit album 'Femme Fatale' and a hosting turn on 'The X-Factor.' (Bringing it all back around, Forbes named her 2012's highest paid female musician.) Still, we're not holding our breath for a 'Crossroads 2.'

Zoe Saldana, Kit

Then: Zoe Saldana first got noticed as Kit, a popular girl with a bad home life. She had previously played parts in the teen flicks 'Get Over It' and 'Center Stage.'

Now: Mega-blockbusters 'Avatar' and 'Star Trek' launched Saldana onto the A-list and she's turned up in non-geek fare like 'The Words.' She's also set to portray jazz legend Nina Simone, a role that will no doubt garner awards season buzz.

Anson Mount, Ben

Then: Anson Mount made the girls squeal by portraying Ben, a cute guy with a car. (Hey, it's a road movie.) He had been known to audiences for playing Toby in 'Urban Legends: The Final Cut' and for his recurring role as Dr. Montville on 'Third Watch.'

Now: Mount stars as Cullen Bohannan on the AMC western 'Hell On Wheels' and as Evan Walrave on 'Red Widow.' He also played one of the leads in the 2012 National Geographic film 'Seal Team Six: The Raid on Osama Bin Laden.'

Taryn Manning, Mimi

Then: 2002 was a big year for Manning as she appeared in '8 Mile,' 'White Oleander' and 'Crossroads,' in which she played Mimi, who had gotten pregnant under what we later learn were highly unfortunate circumstances. In 2005, she starred in 'Hustle and Flow.'

Now: Manning will be part of the upcoming Netflix-exclusive prison dramedy 'Orange Is The New Black.' In addition to acting, Manning, along with brother Kellin, make up the electro-pop duo Boomkat. She also co-owns the fashion line Born Uniqorn.

Justin Long, Henry

Then: Long played Lucy's high school boyfriend Henry, who awkwardly tries and fails to convince her to have sex with him. During that time period he was also portraying another socially inept character -- Warren Cheswick on the TV series 'Ed.'

Now: Long got a lot smoother in 2006 when he began playing the Mac to John Hodgman's PC in Apple's 'Get a Mac' ad campaign. He's also starred in 'Drag Me to Hell,' 'He's Just Not That Into You' and 'New Girl' in recent years.

Dan Aykroyd, Pete Wagner

Then: Dan Aykroyd got to whip out his Southern accent as Lucy's overprotective but understanding dad Pete. One of the original 'Saturday Night Live' players, Aykroyd was also famous for his starring roles in 'The Blues Brothers' and 'Ghostbusters' and had been in 'Pearl Harbor' and 'Curse of the Jade Scorpion' prior to 'Crossroads.'

Now: Aykroyd had a small role in the 2012 Will Ferrell/Zach Galifianakis comedy 'The Campaign' and also did an episode of Fran Drescher's 'Happily Divorced. He's been married to actress Donna Dixon since 1983 and still clings to the hope of a third 'Ghostbusters' movie.

Kim Cattrall, Caroline

Then: That was Kim Cattrall as Lucy's long-lost mom. Cattrall was the go-to sexpot during the '80s, thanks to movies like 'Mannequin' and 'Big Trouble in Little China.' But it was her role as Samantha on 'Sex and the City' that became her signature.

Now: Cattrall is set to star in the American adaptation of the British black comedy series 'Sensitive Skin' for HBO. No word on whether she'll return for the third 'Sex and the City' movie Sarah Jessica Parker keeps threatening us all with.

Jamie Lynn Spears, Young Lucy

Then: Who better to play a young Lucy in flashback scenes than Britney's little sister Jamie Lynn? It was the screen debut for the younger Spears, who went on to star on the Nickelodeon series 'Zoey 101.'

Now: 'Zoey 101' was cancelled in part because of controversy surrounding Spears' real-life pregnancy at age 16. Jamie Lynn hasn't done any acting since 'Zoey 101,' instead pursuing a country music career. She is no longer with the father of her child and in March of 2013 the 21-year-old announced her engagement to her boyfriend of three years Jamie Watson.
