Ed Sheeran Reveals ‘Game of Thrones’ Season 7 Cameo Details
Game of Thrones may have fewer episodes to premiere in Season 7, but there’s always room for a musical cameo. This time out, minstrel Ed Sheeran will sing Westeros a song, as the “Shape of You” singer now reveals the circumstance and scene partner of his appearance.
Given that Game of Thrones bosses announced Sheeran’s cameo as a treat for Maisie Williams, it should come as little surprise that Arya will be the one to encounter the famous musician. As Sheeran explained to The Hits Radio (h/t WatchersOnTheWall), the cameo is brief, but nonetheless gave Williams exactly what she’d want:
I just do a scene with Maisie. I sing a song and then she goes, ‘Oh, that’s a nice song.’
Sheeran previously specified that his character wasn’t given any kind of gruesome death, but we’ll go ahead and presume Arya stabs at least someone shortly thereafter.
Elsewhere of Game of Thrones Season 7, now set for a July 16 premiere, a list of directors for the year has been announced along with rumors of some major set pieces and battles, and airplane-sized dragons. Harry Potter star Jim Broadbent gave us surprising details of his “significant” role, while several notable returns have likely been revealed, along with unexpected MLB and musical cameos, and one recast.
We’ll hear more of Game of Thrones Season 7 in the coming weeks, but check out the latest teasers and photos below.
